Russian Defense Ministry Jet Carrying 91 Disappears From Radar: Media

Russian Ministry of Defense airliner with 91 people on board disappeared from radar screens over the Black Sea shortly after takeoff from Sochi on Sunday morning, Russian media reported. Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported with reference to the source of rescue service reported that the Tu-154 disappeared from radar about 5:20 am local time (8:20 pm Saturday ET) about 20 minutes after takeoff. Out of RT mass media reported that the Ministry of Defense confirmed that the jet disappeared from radar and said 83 passengers and eight crew members were on board. Ministry reportedly said that the jet took off at a scheduled flight and to check with the control tower at 5:40 am The Ministry of Defence said the plane was carrying a well-known military band Alexandrov at a concert in the Russian air base in Syria, the Associated Press reported. RIA said the journalists were also on board. A large search and rescue operation, reportedly underway. Tu-154 is a three-engine aircraft.
